Imamoglu reacts sharply to AKP's privatization plan! He made a reference to that statement by Erdogan

Imprisoned Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu reacted to the AKP government's plan to privatize bridges and highways operated by the General Directorate of Highways. Referring to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's 'I am an economist' claim, Imamoglu stated, 'The result of your so-called "economist" approach is a bankrupt economy and selling off state assets for a pittance, loading the bill onto the nation's back for years.'

Imamoglu reacts sharply to AKP's privatization plan! He made a reference to that statement by Erdogan

Claims that bridges and highways under the General Directorate of Highways will be privatized have dominated the agenda. US-based Bloomberg suggested that at least 9 toll roads, along with the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, would be privatized.

CHP's imprisoned presidential candidate and IMM Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu reacted to these claims.

In a written statement issued through his lawyers, Imamoglu referred to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's "I am an economist" statement and noted the following:

"You will say 'if interest rates fall, inflation will also fall,'

You will insult those who tell you not to enter this wrong path by calling them 'foreign powers' and 'not national,'

You will drag the country's competent economists through the courts by saying 'they don't know, I am an economist,'

You will cause trillions of liras in losses to the Treasury and the Central Bank under the name of KKM (FX-Protected Deposit Scheme),

And then you will come out as if nothing happened and put the bridges on the Bosphorus, which are the assets of the state and the nation, and 9 highways up for sale.

The result of your so-called 'economist' approach is a bankrupt economy and selling off state assets for a pittance, loading the bill onto the nation's back for years."
