Imamoglu's first reaction to the Ataşehir operation: The government treats it as a crime
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted to the operation conducted against the CHP-run Ataşehir Municipality. In his statement, where he said, "Today we see once again that the government treats engaging in politics, serving the public, and upholding the national will as a crime," Imamoglu challenged the government.
Imamoglu reacted to the midnight operation conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the CHP-run Ataşehir Municipality and the detention of Mayor Onursal Adigüzel.
Sharing his thoughts on the operation via the Presidential Candidate Office's X account, Imamoglu stated, "Today we see once again that the government treats engaging in politics, serving the public, and upholding the national will as a crime."
"NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, THAT BALLOT BOX WILL BE SET UP"
In his message, Ekrem İmamoğlu challenged the government once again, saying, "No matter what you do, in the end, that ballot box will be set up."
Imamoglu included the following statements in his message:
"Today we see once again that the government treats engaging in politics, serving the public, and upholding the national will as a crime.
The detention of our Ataşehir Mayor Onursal Adigüzel and his colleagues in a midnight operation is proof of this.
It should be known that these pressures and intimidations will not make us take even a millimeter back. Because you are not actually fighting with a few politicians or a few mayors; you are fighting directly against the will of the nation. And that will, when the day comes, will surely deliver its verdict at the ballot box."
No matter what you do, in the end, that ballot box will be set up, and both the nation's candidate and the party the nation will support will be on the ballot. Bring it on!"
MIDNIGHT OPERATION CONDUCTED
In a midnight operation conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office as part of an investigation into Ataşehir Municipality, 20 people, including Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel, were detained.
In his first statement, Adıgüzel said, "What we are experiencing is entirely political and an assassination of character. The truth will come out sooner or later, and we will meet again."
