İmamoğlu shares post on the importance of 'criticism': It will not be a crime
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu announced what he would do after being elected in a post shared on his social media account.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was arrested and removed from office in an operation targeting the IMM, said, "In the first election, this government will go home, and there will be no such crime as 'Insulting the President'.
When we take office, we will put an end to this absurdity. No one will be unjustly detained, arrested, or imprisoned just because they made a post or exercised their right to democratic protest," he said.
Stating that his declaration was published on the Presidential Candidate Office X account, İmamoğlu said the following:
"In the first election, this government will go home, and there will be no such crime as 'Insulting the President'. Being in power means being open to criticism.
When we take office, we will put an end to this absurdity.
No one will be unjustly detained, arrested, or imprisoned just because they made a post or exercised their right to democratic protest.
The mindset that always wants sycophants around it will go, and an approach that favors freedoms will come. Do not be afraid of the youth; be afraid of the sycophants around you."
