İmamoğlu visits Kılıçdaroğlu ahead of 'Statute Congress'
A notable meeting took place in the Republican People's Party (CHP) ahead of the Statute Congress, which is expected to bring about fundamental changes.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu visited former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu at his home.
STATUTE CONGRESS WAS THE PRIMARY TOPIC
Speaking on a Halk TV broadcast, journalist İsmail Saymaz stated that the meeting in question took place last night (August 20) and that İmamoğlu entered Kılıçdaroğlu's residence using the garage entrance.
According to Saymaz, the meeting, which was not announced to the public, lasted for more than an hour and focused primarily on the Statute Congress. No other political figures were present at the meeting, where Kılıçdaroğlu conveyed his demands.
CONGRESS ON SEPTEMBER 8
At the CHP's Statute Congress to be held on September 8, it is planned to introduce a three-term limit for all elected officials, including the Chairman. The authority to implement primary elections in candidate selection will be granted to the Chairman in certain electoral districts on the grounds of eliminating the "risk of losing."
