Imamoglu's 'bid rigging' trial postponed

Another significant last-minute development has occurred in the political ban case against Ekrem Imamoglu. The trial in which Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu is being tried on charges of "bid rigging" during his tenure as Mayor of Beylikdüzü was heard at the Büyükçekmece 10th Criminal Court of First Instance.

At the hearing, the prosecutor's opinion could not be presented due to the public prosecutor being on medical leave, and the case was postponed until today. A decision regarding IMM Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu was expected to be announced today. The prosecutor requested additional time for his opinion, and the case was postponed to April 11.

BACKGROUND OF THE CASE

A lawsuit was filed against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, seeking a prison sentence of 3 to 7 years for the crime of "bid rigging" in relation to a tender awarded to a company that did not meet the necessary conditions during his time as Mayor of Beylikdüzü.
