İmamoğlu's chief advisor Ongun files lawsuit against Erdem, who resigned from CHP
Murat Ongun, chief advisor to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, has filed a lawsuit against Eren Erdem, who resigned from the CHP after a disciplinary investigation was launched against him following Ongun's complaint that he had been insulted.
It has been learned that Ongun filed a complaint against Erdem and that the first hearing will be held in November.
Murat Ongun requested that Erdem be sentenced to pay 250 thousand Turkish liras in non-pecuniary damages due to his remarks.
Former CHP MP and Deputy Chairman Eren Erdem announced yesterday that he had resigned from his party.
Stating that he was referred to party discipline due to a complaint by Murat Ongun, chief advisor to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Erdem had used the expression, "A 100-year-old party has been made a toy for mayors."
NO RESPONSE PETITION FROM ERDEM
According to the report by Altan Sancar from Gerçek Gündem, Ongun filed a complaint against Erdem on the grounds that his personal rights had been violated and submitted his petition to the prosecutor's office on February 2, 2024.
For the case to be heard at the Istanbul 9th Civil Court of First Instance, the petition and the preliminary procedural minutes prepared by the court were served to Erdem on February 23, 2024.
However, a response petition has not yet been submitted by Erdem. A notification was sent to the neighborhood headman (muhtar) of Erdem's registered address on August 2.
DEMAND FOR 250 THOUSAND LIRAS IN NON-PECUNIARY DAMAGES
In the petition submitted by Ongun's lawyer, it was stated that Erdem made statements against Ongun that did not reflect the truth, contained serious accusations, and were defamatory in nature, and that the damage increased because the post received more than 1 million views.
The petition also requested that Erdem be sentenced to pay 250 thousand Turkish liras in non-pecuniary damages due to his remarks.
The first hearing of the case will be held on November 26, 2024, at the Istanbul 9th Civil Court of First Instance.
