IMM Assembly approves tender for 2,500 app-based taxis

The third session of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Assembly for September was held at the municipal building in Saraçhane, chaired by the Assembly's 1st Deputy Speaker Nuri Aslan.

The item regarding the tender for 2,500 app-based taxis was discussed in the assembly.

In the vote held, the motion to conduct a tender for these taxis was accepted unanimously.

At the IMM Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) meeting, the proposal for 2,500 new app-based taxi services had been accepted unanimously, with the requirement that the vehicles operate only through applications that have received an Electronic Transportation and Management License and that they function as a taxi system that cannot pick up passengers from the street.

The proposal also included conditions such as the vehicle type being a T-plated taxi with a distinctive color and different design, a meter triggered by the application, no roof light, picking up passengers only through the application and integrated taxi stands, and the presence of a security partition.
