IMM and ISKI General Assembly approve water price hike: Here is the new rate

The second session of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) May ordinary assembly meetings was held at the IMM Headquarters Assembly Hall in Fatih Saraçhane, chaired by Assembly 1st Deputy Speaker Nuri Aslan. The ordinary general assembly of ISKI was held during the assembly session. ISKI's proposal for a water price hike was discussed at the general assembly.

ISKI requested hikes ranging from 36 percent to 53 percent across various tiers for residential and commercial properties. The proposal was accepted by majority vote with the support of CHP members, despite the "no" votes from AKP assembly members, without any revisions.

NEW TARIFF

With the new tariff, water prices were increased by rates ranging from 36 percent to 53 percent across all tiers and usage types. A hike of approximately 36 percent was applied to the first-tier residential tariff used by 85 percent of Istanbul residents. It was decided that for residential 1st-tier water usage between 0-15 cubic meters, the unit price would increase from 23.72 TL to 32.28 TL with a 36 percent hike; for the second tier between 16-30 cubic meters, the unit price would increase from 34.14 TL to 49.17 TL with a 44 percent hike; and for the 3rd tier of 31 cubic meters and above, the unit price would increase from 46.49 TL to 71.10 TL. The increased tariff was accepted by majority vote.

In areas that have become neighborhoods by law and in rural neighborhoods, the residential unit price rose from 5.92 TL to 21.12 TL, and the common meter residential/residential construction site rate rose from 34.14 TL to 114.99 TL. The tiers for workplaces were also reorganized. According to the previous tiering, the lowest tier was 62.14 TL and the highest tier was 71.88 TL. According to the new regulation, the new tariff is as follows: Workplace first tier (0-15 cubic meters) is set at 84.51 TL, workplace (16-50 cubic meters) at 89.49 TL, workplace (51-100 cubic meters) at 109.98 TL, and workplace (101 cubic meters and above) at 114.99 TL.

Under the law, the workplace tariff in areas that have become neighborhoods rose from 15.53 TL to 21.12 TL; in rural neighborhoods, the workplace rate rose from 15.53 TL to 21.12 TL; the common meter workplace and workplace construction site rate rose from 71.88 TL to 114.99 TL; the special group rate rose from 23.72 TL to 32.28 TL; the workplace raw water rate rose from 19.53 TL to 31.25 TL; the wholesale raw water rate rose from 6.16 TL to 9.86 TL; and the recycled water rate rose from 2.14 TL to 3.19 TL.
