IMM to hold tender for new taxi plates
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) is holding a tender for 150 taxi plates as the first phase of 2,500 new taxis. The usage rights for the new plates will be limited to 29 years. Participation in the tender will be conducted via a closed-bid process.
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) is holding a tender for 150 taxi plates as the first phase of 2,500 new taxis that will operate under the "App-Based Taxi Transportation" system.
In accordance with the municipal council decision taken on September 12, 2024, the tender will grant operating rights to individuals for each plate for a period of 29 years.
According to a report in BirGün, the tender will be held on February 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Dr. Mimar Kadir Topbaş Performance and Art Center. The deadline for submitting bids has been set for February 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Participation will be conducted via a closed-bid process.
The IMM has set the estimated value for each taxi plate at 4 million 250 thousand TL + VAT. The temporary security deposit will be 127 thousand 500 TL.
TENDER PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
Those wishing to participate in the tender must complete the required documentation and submit their applications within the specified timeframe. Applicants are required to submit the following documents:
• A residency certificate proving residence in Istanbul,
• A valid driver's license,
• A criminal record check,
• A receipt showing the temporary security deposit has been paid.
Only individual applications will be accepted for the tender, and each participant will be eligible to acquire only one plate.
The tender specifications can be obtained from the IMM Public Transportation Services Branch Directorate for 1,000 TL. Applications must be delivered in person to the IMM Committee Branch Directorate; applications made via telegram, fax, or mail will not be accepted.
LIMITED TO 29 YEARS
While taxi plates issued in previous periods had indefinite usage rights, the usage rights for these new plates will be limited to 29 years.
The new taxis will be on the roads with a new design determined by the votes of Istanbul residents.
