IMM's 'Lies and Truths' series: Responses to 5 critical allegations

In its statement titled "Lies and Truths," the IMM responded to 5 major accusations directed at the municipality with documentation, stating that these personal, political, or reputation-damaging claims are baseless.

The allegations and the IMM's responses are as follows:

1. 'Irregular support to muhtars'

Allegation: It is claimed that cash assistance was provided to local muhtars before the election, and that white goods and market cards were distributed.

Truth: The support provided by the IMM to muhtars is in-kind and service-oriented, in compliance with Municipal Law No. 5393. Equipment such as computers, air conditioners, and printers were reported to the district governorships via official correspondence. The claim of cash support is baseless.

2. 'Muhtars were directed for political purposes and penalized'

Allegation: It was claimed that muhtars were under political pressure, directed through party vests, and that those who opposed were penalized.

Truth: It was emphasized that the municipality's form of relationship is solely based on local service coordination. Muhtars work in cooperation within the scope of their duties, regardless of their political identities.

3. 'Election bribery'

Allegation: It was suggested that bribes were given to muhtars under the guise of in-kind aid during the election period.

Truth: The aid provided is based on laws No. 5393 and 5216, and the social assistance regulation determined by the Council. The aid was distributed equally, through tenders, and in a documented manner based on need.

4. 'Muhtar was penalized'

Allegation: It was claimed that some muhtars were penalized due to their political stances.

Truth: In the statement, it was argued that this accusation is an attempt to manipulate public opinion by politicizing a process where coordination with muhtars is based solely on a voluntary basis.

5. 'Terror links'

Allegation: It was claimed that IMM employees or muhtars have connections to terrorist organizations.

Truth: This serious accusation was also described as "completely baseless and intended for defamation." Legal proceedings are planned to be initiated regarding the matter in the coming stages.
