Important development for taxis and citizens in Istanbul. New decision from Eyüp Aksu

Recently, allegations surfaced suggesting that the UKOME membership of Istanbul Taxi Drivers Chamber President Eyüp Aksu had been terminated.

Former IMM Council Member İbrahim Özkan disclosed a phone conversation he had with Istanbul Taxi Drivers Chamber President Eyüp Aksu.

Özkan stated that Aksu informed him his role at the Federation of Automobile and Drivers had ended, but that he would continue his duties as President of the Taxi Drivers Chamber until 2026.

Özkan expressed that Aksu's role at the Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) would continue.

WILL BE IN CONSENSUS REGARDING THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM

Özkan conveyed that Eyüp Aksu is in favor of reaching a consensus to solve the taxi problem.

Özkan described his conversation with Aksu as follows:

"They declared that at the UKOME meeting to be held on July 25, they will make a decision in consensus for the resolution of the taxi problem. I hope a joint decision will emerge for the happiness of both the taxi tradesmen and the people of Istanbul."

WAS AGAINST THE PROJECT

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality brought a proposal for an additional 5,000 taxis to the UKOME agenda 14 times to solve the taxi problem in Istanbul, but this proposal was rejected 14 times by the votes of Aksu and Ministry representatives.

Before the IMM elections, Aksu had declared his support for the AKP candidate by saying, "Set your taximeters, Murat Kurum is coming."
