Following the 4.6 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Tuşba, Van, Prof. Dr. Okan Tüysüz stated that the movement originated from a compressional fault and announced that the probability of a larger earthquake in the region is low.

Tüysüz shared his initial assessments regarding the earthquake on his social media account, including maps of the areas where it was felt at an intensity of IV-V.

Speaking to NTV, Prof. Dr. Tüysüz stated that a similar compression has been felt in the same region following the earthquakes that were effective in 2011 and 2023.
Noting that aftershocks could reach a magnitude of 4, Tüysüz stated, "This fault does not have the capacity to generate a larger earthquake. I do not expect a major earthquake for the time being."
