Important statements from President Erdoğan at the UN General Assembly: It is a historic decision

President Erdoğan attended the “High-Level International Conference on Finding a Solution to the Palestinian Question and Implementing the Two-State Solution” held at the United Nations Headquarters.

During his speech there, Erdoğan's microphone cut out. There was a silence lasting approximately 1 to 1.5 minutes.

Erdoğan's speech was as follows:

"No one with a conscience can accept what is happening; furthermore, no one can remain silent in the face of such a genocide. The goal of the Netanyahu government is to make the establishment of a Palestinian state impossible and to force the Palestinian people to migrate. In the midst of these negative developments, the decision of a group of countries at the UN to recognize the Palestinian state is an extremely important and historic decision.

We would have wished for Mahmoud Abbas to be with us today. I find it very, very valuable that all participants who took the floor today are also acting as the voice of the Palestinian people. Today, the Palestinian cause has become a global issue.

The participation in this hall is the best proof of this. In Europe, Asia, America, and Africa, we are witnessing cries for a free Palestine on the streets, on social media, and in the press more than we have ever heard before.

This contradiction should not escape the attention of anyone, including my friends here. The Netanyahu government, which seeks to eradicate the roots of those who suffered the Holocaust, is now inflicting oppression on its neighbors with whom it shares the same land, air, and water.

The international community must stop the expansionism in the West Bank, the fait accompli in East Jerusalem, and the attempts to spread instability in the region. Otherwise, one cannot speak of an international order or universal values. The goal of these policies is clear: to kill the two-state solution and leave no ground for a Palestinian state to exist. This can never be allowed.

I hope that the countries that have shown the courage to recognize the Palestinian state at this conference will follow through on this historic stance.

A ceasefire must be declared, and the unhindered entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza must be ensured."
