The Social Security Institution (SSI) has issued an advisory statement to citizens following complaints received by the institution, which was shared via social media.
The Social Security Institution stated that some citizens have been receiving SMS messages containing IBAN numbers regarding their General Health Insurance premium debts, but emphasized that no money should be deposited into any IBAN number for such payments.
An advisory statement was issued to citizens following complaints received by the institution.
In the statement made from the SSI's social media account, it was noted: "Recently, complaints have been received by our institution regarding SMS messages sent to our citizens claiming that they have a General Health Insurance premium debt and that this debt can be paid by depositing money into the provided IBAN.
Citizens who have premium debts within the scope of subparagraph (g) of the first paragraph of Article 60 of Law No. 5510 can pay their premium debts through contracted banks via ATMs, internet banking, mobile banking channels, or via e-Government using only their Turkish ID numbers; accordingly, they should not deposit money into any IBAN number for General Health Insurance premium payments.
No IBAN number is included in the notifications and SMS messages sent by our institution to our citizens for informational purposes within the relevant scopes.
Accordingly, our citizens should not pay heed to SMS messages claiming that they have a General Health Insurance debt and requesting that said debt be deposited into the IBAN number included in the message."
