Imprisoned journalist Furkan Karabay appears in court today
Journalist Furkan Karabay, who was arrested on charges of insulting the President and targeting public officials involved in counter-terrorism efforts, will appear before the 22nd High Criminal Court today.
Journalist Furkan Karabay was detained on the morning of May 15 due to a video he prepared for YouTube and posts made on his social media account; he was subsequently arrested by the court on charges of 'targeting individuals involved in counter-terrorism' and 'insulting the President'.
Karabay, whose social media accounts were blocked following his arrest, will appear in court today for the first hearing of the case opened against him on charges of "targeting," "insulting," and "spreading misleading information to the public" due to his reporting on the arrest of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer.
The hearing will be held today at 11:00 AM at the Istanbul 22nd High Criminal Court.
