Imprisoned journalist İsmail Arı: I was thrown into prison just for doing journalism
Journalist İsmail Arı was detained and subsequently arrested during the Ramadan Feast as part of an investigation into the "publicly spreading misleading information."
Journalist İsmail Arı, who is being held in Sincan Prison, stated in a message sent through journalist Ozan Gündoğdu that he is in prison only because he was doing journalism, saying, "Protect your right to receive news and support journalists."
In a letter sent to journalist Ozan Gündoğdu from Ankara Sincan Prison, Arı noted that he has been deprived of his freedom for 15 days, 13 of which he has spent in prison.
Emphasizing that he has engaged in no activity other than journalism throughout his professional life, Arı included the following statements in his message:
"While practicing this profession, journalism, I did my best to be the voice of those who have no voice. I stood by anyone seeking justice. I was thrown into prison just for doing journalism. Protect your right to receive news and support journalists."
