Imprisoned mayor gives testimony, IYI Party municipal council members detained

Mustafa Özmen, the mayor of the Gelendost district of Isparta who was arrested on March 24 as part of a corruption investigation, was brought to the Yalvaç Courthouse for additional testimony. Özmen, who faces charges of embezzlement, bribery, extortion, forgery of official documents, and violation of the confidentiality of an investigation, was taken from the Yalvaç T-Type Prison and transferred to the courthouse yesterday at 09:05.

Özmen, whose testimony was taken by the Yalvaç Chief Public Prosecutor, was sent back to prison after proceedings that lasted approximately 12.5 hours.

2 DETAINED AFTER MAYOR'S TESTIMONY

Following Özmen's testimony, IYI Party municipal council members Ümit Satılmış and Yusuf Sarı of the Gelendost Municipality were detained as part of the same investigation. While the detention procedures are ongoing at the courthouse, it was learned that both individuals were summoned to testify in light of new evidence in the case. It was reported that the investigation is continuing in multiple directions and that other individuals may also be summoned to testify.
