İnce declares 'we will pay salaries' to lieutenants who took the oath with swords: Dismissal on the agenda

The act of lieutenants taking an oath with swords at the Military Academy graduation ceremony had sparked controversy. It has been reported that at the end of the investigation launched against them, one of the lieutenants has been referred to the High Disciplinary Board with a request for dismissal. İnce declares 'we will pay salaries' to lieutenants who took the oath with swords: Dismissal on the agenda

Following the Military Academy graduation ceremony, the lieutenants had gathered and taken an oath by chanting the slogan “We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal.” The investigation launched into the incident has been completed.

DISMISSAL REQUEST FOR LIEUTENANTS

A lieutenant who was the student regiment senior of the class and is currently in training at the branch school was notified that they have been referred to the High Disciplinary Board with a request for dismissal. It was learned that Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu, who was the top-ranking graduate of the class and received her diploma from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is also awaiting notification.

The lieutenants are being referred to the High Disciplinary Board under Article 20, Paragraph C of the Turkish Armed Forces Disciplinary Law.

While Article 20 of the law is titled “Acts of indiscipline requiring separation from the Armed Forces,” Paragraph C states:

“Engaging in behavior that hinders service: Engaging in attitudes and behaviors that damage the reputation of the State and the Turkish Armed Forces, or committing acts that constitute serious crimes or indiscipline.”

'SALARY' STATEMENT FROM MUHARREM İNCE

Following the dismissal decision regarding the lieutenants, Memleket Party Chairman Muharrem İnce made a post on his social media account and stated that the salaries of the lieutenants to be dismissed would be paid by his party.

The following statements were included in İnce's post:

"The soldiers of Mustafa Kemal who took the officer's oath are reportedly being referred to the disciplinary board with a request for dismissal. Shame on you! If these officers are dismissed, we declare and commit that their salaries will be paid with funds collected from Memleket Party volunteers, and that they will be reinstated to their positions at the ranks they held upon a change in government."
