Indictment accepted in Sinan Ateş murder case
The Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court has accepted the indictment prepared against 22 detained suspects regarding the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş. The trial date will be determined in the coming days.
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's indictment prepared against 22 suspects regarding the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation President and Hacettepe University faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sinan Ateş has been accepted by the Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court.
The 22 defendants processed in relation to the incident will be tried for "premeditated murder," "attempted murder," "incitement to commit a crime," and "aiding and abetting a crime."
The court will set a hearing date for the case.
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had completed the investigation into the incident on December 30, 2022, in the Çukurambar district of Ankara, where Sinan Ateş was shot and killed and his companion Selman Bozkurt was wounded in a life-threatening manner, and had sent the indictment regarding the 22 suspects to the Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court.
The investigation into the other 17 individuals out of the total 39 processed in relation to the incident, who have been issued travel bans, will continue under a separate file.
