Indictment against Ekrem İmamoğlu regarding expert witness case accepted!

The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu as part of the "expert witness" investigation, seeking 2 to 4 years in prison and a political ban on charges of "attempting to influence a judicial officer, expert witness, or witness," has been accepted. The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office includes the claim that the investigation was launched after it was determined that Ekrem İmamoğlu, during a press conference he held on January 27, "attempted to influence a judicial officer by publicly targeting one of the expert witnesses assigned to certain investigations and public cases conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, with the aim of ensuring a decision favorable to the investigation suspects, and by disclosing their name for this purpose."

ATTEMPT TO INFLUENCE THE CASE FILE

In the legal assessment section of the indictment, it is alleged that Ekrem İmamoğlu 'openly' spoke about certain investigations and prosecutions in which the expert witness was involved during the press conference, that he aimed to create public opinion that 'expert witnesses and judicial bodies are not independent and impartial,' and that by doing so, he attempted to influence the official expert witness duties being performed in various investigations and prosecutions pending at the Istanbul Courthouse and other courthouses, and attempted to influence the case file currently being heard at the Büyükçekmece 10th Criminal Court of First Instance.
