Indictment against Tolga Şardan completed! Prison sentence sought...

The indictment against journalist Tolga Şardan, who was arrested on November 2 under the censorship law and later released due to his article titled “What is in the ‘judiciary report’ that the MİT submitted to the Presidency?”, has been completed. 

According to the report by T24; the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office demands up to 5 years in prison for Şardan on charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information” and “insulting the judicial organs of the state,” which fall under the scope of the disinformation regulation. 

The indictment alleges that Şardan attempted to mislead the public by mentioning in his article that even Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor İsmail Uçar had written a letter to the HSK reporting allegations of bribery and corruption in the courthouses, while also bringing other allegations to the agenda. 

The 6-page indictment states that an ex officio investigation was launched due to the article in question, and that Şardan was detained, arrested, and his mobile phone and digital materials were seized.
