Indictment prepared for 3 individuals who performed scandalous acts at İkbal Uzuner's grave

The investigation into the inappropriate acts performed on November 19, 2025, at the grave of 19-year-old İkbal Uzuner, who was brutally murdered by Semih Çelik in Fatih, Istanbul, has been completed. In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, father Hasan Uzuner is listed as the complainant, while Ö.D. (15), Ö.E.E. (15), and Y.A. (15) are named as defendants with the status of "children driven to crime."

THEY DRESSED LIKE THE KILLER AND POSTED WITH THE SAME SONG

The indictment states that the children driven to crime acted with unity of intent and action. It was stated that the children went to the city walls wearing clothes similar to those worn by Semih Çelik on the day of the murder, that Ö.D. styled his hair to resemble the killer's, and that he recorded themselves and the walls while lying on his back. It was noted that the footage taken was shared on social media accounts along with the song used by Çelik.

INAPPROPRIATE ACTS AT THE GRAVE

According to the findings in the indictment, it was stated that Ö.D. displayed mocking behavior with a cigarette in his mouth and brought his genitals close to İkbal Uzuner's tombstone, while Ö.D. and Ö.E.E. poured water on the grave. It was reported that the video of these moments was also shared on social media with the caption "drowned."

The prosecution assessed that these actions constituted both the crime of "damaging places of worship and cemeteries" and behavior that damaged the honor, dignity, and respectability of the late İkbal Uzuner.

FATHER LEARNED OF THE INCIDENT THROUGH VIDEO FOOTAGE

The indictment states that father Hasan Uzuner visited his daughter's grave with his wife after work, at which time his colleagues and some individuals who wanted to protect his daughter called him to say that water had been poured on the grave and that there was video footage of inappropriate acts being performed. It was noted that Uzuner learned of the incident in this manner.

"IT WAS NOT SEXUAL IN NATURE" DEFENSE

The statements of the children driven to crime were also included in the indictment. It was stated that Ö.D. argued that he could not have foreseen that the events would reach this point and that his actions were in no way sexual in nature. It was reported that Ö.E.E. said he only participated in the act of watering the cemetery and regretted being associated with this incident; while Y.A. stated that if he had known the consequences of the event, he would definitely not have gone there and that he was sorry for what happened.

REQUEST FOR UP TO 2 YEARS AND 8 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT

In the prepared indictment, prison sentences ranging from 5 months to 2 years and 8 months were requested for each of the children driven to crime, Ö.D., Ö.E.E., and Y.A., for the crimes of "insulting the memory of a person," "praising a crime and a criminal," and "damaging places of worship and cemeteries."
