Indifference toward insult to Atatürk by Court of Cassation member Durak Çetin: Prosecutor who supported lieutenants suspended

While some posts filled with insults on social media are sometimes punished within just a few hours, other posts containing insults are ignored.

Sharing a photo of a visit by the Pope to Anıtkabir on his social media account, Court of Cassation member Durak Çetin did not hesitate to share the words written under the post: "While the Pope declared 3 days of celebration when Sultan Fatih died, I wonder what you did, my commander, to make the Pope pray for you at your grave."

This post by Çetin brought to mind the lieutenants who are being treated as if they committed a crime for saying 'We are soldiers of Atatürk,' and Antalya Public Prosecutor Mehmet Çağlayan, who was suspended for supporting them with the words, "All soldiers are soldiers of Atatürk." 

While Çağlayan is being treated as if he committed a crime for defending Atatürk, the indifference toward Court of Cassation member Durak Çetin insulting Atatürk led social media users to comment, "Defending Atatürk is a crime, insulting him is free."
