Deniz Gider was arrested today around noon after being detained during a routine identity check (GBT). According to a statement by the union leadership, Gider has been taken to Kartal Prison.
WHY WAS HE ARRESTED?
Deniz Gider had recently made headlines for releasing a video to the public showing the current state of a bay destroyed by Sinpaş GYO in Marmaris. However, according to information provided by the union, the reason for his arrest is the struggle for workers' rights.

In a statement issued by İnşaat-İş, it was noted that a lawsuit filed by the company during a resistance launched for the withheld wages of workers employed at the TekYol Plus Yapı firm had concluded, and that Gider was arrested as a result.

The statement from the İnşaat-İş Union included the following remarks:
"Our union's Organizing Secretary A. Deniz Gider was detained during an identity check around noon today and subsequently arrested. Our Organizing Secretary A. Deniz Gider, who was arrested following the conclusion of a lawsuit filed by the boss during the resistance we launched in front of the TekYol Plus Yapı firm for the rights of our members whose wages were withheld, is being taken to Kartal Prison."
