Inspection communiqués for products to be imported in 2025 have been published

The Ministry's communiqués regarding import inspections were published in the 4th repeated issue of the Official Gazette.

With the Communiqué on Conformity Inspection to Standards in Imports, the procedures and principles regarding the inspection of products with specified standards for their compliance with relevant standards or technical regulations during import were regulated.

With another communiqué, the procedures and principles regarding the conformity inspection of waste entering the Turkish customs territory, including free zones, in terms of environmental protection were regulated, and waste prohibited from entering the country's customs territory was determined.

The Communiqué on Import Inspection of Products Subject to the Control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry included the procedures and principles regarding the import of products subject to the Ministry's control in terms of human health and safety, as well as animal and plant assets and health.

With four separate communiqués, the procedures and principles regarding conformity inspection in the import of chemicals, waste, solid fuels, and metal scrap, which are kept under control for environmental protection, were determined.

Within the framework of commitments arising from international agreements, provisions regarding inspections to be carried out during import and quota allocation were also re-regulated in order to gradually reduce the use of fluorinated greenhouse gases.

In addition, import inspection communiqués were published for radio equipment, certain products that must bear the "CE" mark, toys, personal protective equipment, consumer products, construction materials, batteries and accumulators, medical devices, tobacco, tobacco products, alcohol and alcoholic beverages, certain products inspected by the Ministry of Health, and vehicle parts.

STRICT INSPECTION FOR MOTHER AND BABY PRODUCTS

The Communiqué on Import Inspection of Mother and Baby Products was published for the strict inspection of mother and baby products.

With the Communiqué on the Inspection of Certain Textile, Apparel, and Leather Products, new products in the textile, apparel, footwear, and stationery product groups were included in the scope of import inspection.

The Communiqué on Import Inspection of Mobile Machinery Used Outside of Road Traffic was published to prevent the supply of heavy construction machinery to the country's market in an unsafe manner or in violation of technical regulations.

The Communiqué on Commercial Quality Inspection in the Export and Import of Certain Agricultural Products was included. With the communiqué, the standards to be taken as a basis for commercial quality inspection to be carried out in the export and import of certain agricultural products were updated, taking into account the amendments made during the year.

Furthermore, regulations were made regarding products for which a control certificate and conformity letter are required within the scope of food product import inspections, as well as products imported without being subject to inspection by benefiting from exemptions.

ADMINISTRATIVE FINES INCREASED

On the other hand, within the scope of the Ministry's "Communiqué on the Announcement of New Values of Administrative Fines Regulated by the Law No. 7223 on Product Safety and Technical Regulations," the fines in question were increased by the revaluation rate of 43.93 percent.

Those who act in violation of the said law will pay administrative fines ranging from 48 thousand 474 liras to 3 million 462 thousand 474 liras.

The communiqués will enter into force as of January 1, 2025.
