Instagram ban has already cost the AKP votes: 'If the decision is prolonged...'
Asal Research Director Adem Belede stated that the access ban imposed on Instagram has already cost the AKP 2 percentage points in votes. Belede expressed that if the ban continues, the likelihood of further vote loss is high.
The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) has blocked access to the social media platform Instagram on the grounds that it "did not comply with catalog crimes."
While the access ban on Instagram continues into its second day, bad news for the AKP has come from Asal Research.
In a post on his social media account, Asal Research Director Adem Belede said, "As long as the economy/cost of living crisis continues, the AK Party is doomed to experience a loss of votes. The expectations of retirees/minimum wage earners were not met in July. It is essential that the country's second most important problem, the 'refugees,' be sent back to their countries."
"INSTAGRAM BAN HAS COST AT LEAST 2 POINTS"
Pointing out that the law on stray animals, which has drawn significant public reaction, is also causing the AKP to lose votes, Belede stated that the Instagram ban would also cost the AKP at least 2 percentage points.

"IF THE DECISION IS PROLONGED..."
Belede commented, "The blocking of access to Instagram in Turkey by the BTK decision will already cause the AK Party to lose 2 percentage points in votes. If the closure decision is prolonged, the probability of this loss increasing is high."
