Interim ruling announced in espionage case: İmamoğlu attended three separate trials
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu delivered a defense that lasted an hour and a half in the espionage case. An interim ruling was announced in the trial.
Detained Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu attended hearings for three separate cases in Silivri.
İmamoğlu appeared before the court in the case opened on charges of "espionage," the diploma case, and the main case concerning the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
This marked the 62nd day of the IMM case, the 2nd day of the espionage case, and the 5th hearing of the diploma case.
In the espionage case, the court decided to determine the current addresses of the witnesses.
The court panel rejected the requests submitted regarding the Tele 1 television channel and ruled for the continuation of the defendants' detention.
The trial in which Ekrem İmamoğlu, strategist Necati Özkan, journalist Merdan Yanardağ, and technology investor Hüseyin Gün are being tried for 'political espionage' was adjourned, with the court ruling that the defendants remain in custody.
The hearing was adjourned until September 29, 2026.
