Interim ruling in the 'Newborn Gang' trial: 10 people released
The court has announced its interim ruling in the 'Newborn Gang' trial, where defendants are accused of directing newborn babies to specific hospitals for illicit gain and causing the deaths of some infants due to negligence in Istanbul. While the court ordered the release of 10 detained defendants, it also lifted the judicial control measures applied to 5 other defendants.
The trial of 58 defendants, 29 of whom are in custody, continues in Istanbul. They are accused of directing newborn patients in emergency situations to the neonatal units of private hospitals with which they had prior agreements, both to obtain illicit financial gain and causing the deaths of some infants.

The defendants were issued a travel ban and a requirement to report to authorities at regular intervals. Additionally, the judicial control measures previously applied to Gözde Kul Yadigar, Hilal Vatansever, İbrahim Oktay, Meryem Küçükoğlu, and Tuğba Özkaynak, who are being tried without detention, were lifted.
