Interim ruling in the Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı murder trial: Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu suffers a nervous breakdown

The second hearing of the trial regarding the death of footballer Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı, who lost his life as a result of an armed attack in Ümraniye's Tatlısu neighborhood on March 19, was held at the Istanbul Anatolian Courthouse. During the hearing, the detained defendants Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu and Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu requested their release.

The court panel announced its interim ruling after hearing witness testimonies. The panel ruled that the expert report should be awaited, judicial control measures should continue, and the detention of the two defendants should remain in effect. The hearing was adjourned until October 7.

According to information reflected in the file, the incident began after rapper Vahap Canbay wanted to meet again with Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, whom he had broken up with some time ago. It is alleged that their mutual friend, Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı, acted as an intermediary for the parties to reconcile. While Kundakçı and Canbay were waiting in the vehicle, a person approached the car and opened fire. Kundakçı, who was seriously injured, lost his life at the hospital where he was taken.

WITNESS DESCRIBES THE MOMENT OF THE INCIDENT IN COURT

According to the report by Sabah, witness Yalçınay Yıldız, who was heard during the hearing, stated that he was the producer for Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu and Vahap Canbay and that they were in front of the studio on the day of the incident. Stating that their goal was to reconcile the two people, Yıldız explained that a vehicle with flashing lights approached after a while.

In his testimony, Yıldız stated that a person dressed in white got out of the vehicle, knocked on the car window, and said to Canbay, "What are you waiting for here? I don't want to see you here again." The witness said that they heard a gunshot at that moment and that Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı began to scream.

In her defense, detained defendant Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu argued that there was no statement against her in the testimonies given. Kalaycıoğlu requested her release, saying, "I am very sorry for the incident that occurred. Neither is Alaattin ignorant enough to kill a person for no reason, nor am I someone who would have such a thing done."

Detained defendant Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu also stated that he was sorry for the incident and said, "This incident happened outside of my control. I request my release."

It was reported that a verbal argument broke out with the Kundakçı family while Zuhal Kalaycıoğlu was presenting her defense during the hearing, and the presiding judge had the parties removed from the courtroom. It was reported that Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu suffered a nervous breakdown following the court's decision to continue the detention.
