Interior Minister Çiftçi: We have apprehended 7,500 wanted individuals in the first 7 months of the year

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi arrived in Esenyurt with Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek to conduct a series of visits and inspections. During the visit, Minister Çiftçi and Gürlek were accompanied by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor Barış Duman, Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Fatih Dönmez, and numerous other officials.

Making a statement after inspecting the courthouse under construction in Esenyurt, Minister Çiftçi drew attention to the large population of Esenyurt, saying, "With a population exceeding 1 million, Esenyurt is one of the largest districts in both Istanbul and our country. It is also one of our important districts in terms of public investment. Baykar, one of the leading firms in our defense industry, and the Mercedes Benz bus factory are located in our district. Our Esenyurt district alone accounts for 7 percent of our province's total exports. As the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Justice, our goal is to review the services we carry out together for the security and public order of our province, and to further strengthen coordination in terms of security and public order," he said.

"We are planning one police station for every 100,000 citizens"

Regarding the public buildings to be constructed in Esenyurt, Minister Çiftçi said, "We do not have a government house in our Esenyurt district. Our district governorship is currently serving in a multi-story building belonging to the district municipality. Therefore, we will provide our district with a government house in 2027, on an area of 16,000 square meters. We will build a service building where our district is fully integrated. Following that, we do not have a district police headquarters building either. Our municipality has allocated the land for this and brought it to the final stage. In the coming days, we will also provide our district with our Esenyurt District Police Headquarters building. Our budget for this is currently ready. To strengthen security and public order and increase the safety of citizens, we have 6 police stations. In addition to these, we will build 4 more police stations. We are planning one police station for every 100,000 citizens. A Special Operations Directorate belonging to our Special Operations Presidency and a Riot Police unit will also be deployed within Esenyurt. This will contribute positively to the security and public order of our district," he said.

Minister Çiftçi stated, "This year in our Esenyurt district, we have increased our number of vehicles by 96 percent compared to 2023. This number will make our visibility in the field and our services even more effective. We have increased our personnel count by 40 percent compared to 2023. We have increased our personnel numbers more than in other districts. We have apprehended approximately 7,500 wanted individuals in the first seven months of this year. This appears to be concretely reflected in the field. Within this year, we have seized 800 kilograms of narcotics within our Esenyurt district as a result of the diligent work of our personnel. As a result of our NARVAS application, which our Ministry of Interior put into effect on January 1, 2022, we have a data analysis application regarding narcotics. We see that the reports we receive have increased by 23 percent. This is a concrete indicator of the support our citizens have given us. As of now, we have collected 96.5 percent of stray animals across Turkey. In Esenyurt, stray animals have been completely taken into shelters. The feeding, adoption, and sterilization of stray animals are being carried out," he expressed.

Touching upon the goal of a 'Terror-Free Turkey', Minister Çiftçi said, "The framework law has been submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). It was discussed in the Justice Commission and passed. Hopefully, it will be discussed in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey tomorrow or the next day, and this issue will have passed through our parliament as a law. Of course, the greatest share in bringing this process to this day belongs to our President. He has shown a will from the very beginning and made it a state policy. As a result of this, the process has reached these days in a healthy manner. Nationalist Movement Party Chairman Devlet Bahçeli also put his weight behind the Terror-Free Turkey process and gave very strong support. I would also like to extend a third thank you to our Parliament Speaker. He also played a very constructive role in ensuring the process could function healthily until now. As the Ministry of Interior, we are following the process carefully to ensure it does not fail or fall victim to provocation. We will continue to do so, just as we have until today, to ensure the process continues in a healthy manner from now on," he stated.
