Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi clarifies 'in-car screen penalty'

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi stated that multimedia systems installed in vehicles after purchase are prohibited and that drivers will face a fine of 21 thousand liras. With his statement, Çiftçi specified which vehicles will and will not be subject to the penalty.

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi clarifies 'in-car screen penalty'

Minister Çiftçi made statements to clear up questions regarding the penalties applied to vehicles. Regarding the fines to be issued, Çiftçi used the following expressions:

A fine of 21,000 TL will be imposed for any tablet, screen, or multimedia system added to the vehicle after purchase, and the vehicle will be banned from traffic for 30 days. 

Watching videos/movies while driving (even if it is the original screen) is strictly prohibited.  

A fine of 3,000 TL is issued for the use of loud music that disturbs the environment.  

Only original systems installed by the factory and driving assistance features (such as navigation) are legal.
