Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that simultaneous operations have been conducted as part of the fight against online child sexual abuse material.

Sharing information about the subject on his social media account, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that 50 suspects were detained across 48 provinces and included the following remarks:

“Under the coordination of our General Directorate of Security's Cybercrime Combat Department, our Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Cybercrime Combat Branch conducted simultaneous operations in 48 provinces—centered in Istanbul and including Adana, Aksaray, Amasya, Ankara, Antalya, Aydın, Balıkesir, Bartın, Batman, Bingöl, Bursa, Çanakkale, Çorum, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, Gümüşhane, Hatay, İzmir, Kahramanmaraş, Karabük, Kastamonu, Kayseri, Kırklareli, Kilis, Kocaeli, Konya, Kütahya, Malatya, Manisa, Mardin, Mersin, Muğla, Muş, Ordu, Osmaniye, Sakarya, Samsun, Şanlıurfa, Tekirdağ, Tokat, Uşak, Van, and Zonguldak—as part of the fight against online child sexual abuse and harassment, aimed at preventing the crimes of importing, reproducing, selling, storing, possessing, and using obscene materials belonging to children. It was determined that groups were formed on the messaging application Telegram to offer obscene images of children for sale in exchange for money, with payments processed through various payment channels. 50 suspects were apprehended within the scope of the operation. A handgun and numerous digital materials were seized. I congratulate our police officers who carried out the operation. Protecting our children is among our most sensitive priorities. Just as in our Blue Homeland, our virtual patrols are on duty 24/7 in our Cyber Homeland.”
