Interior Minister Yerlikaya shares 'action taken' post

In his post, stating, "The drivers who ran the red light have been caught, please watch this unbelievable video," Yerlikaya said the following:

"In 2024, unfortunately, 137 of our citizens lost their lives due to 'Red Light Violations'.

It is the year 2025 and there are still vehicles that do not stop at red lights and speed through, disregarding human life. We do not deserve and do not want such a picture.

As you can see in the video, our children were saved from being crushed at the last moment. What if the driver who ran the red light had hit our children, or what if our children had died?

What would we have said to their mothers and fathers? Grief burns where it falls.

The drivers named S.C. and D.G., who endangered traffic safety by running a red light in the Arnavutköy district of Istanbul, have been caught. They could not escape us, but what if they had caused an accident?

According to the new Traffic Law Proposal: For those who run a red light,

We will revoke the driver's license for 30 days for the 3rd violation,

60 days for the 4th violation,

and 90 days for the 5th violation.

For the 6th violation, we will cancel their driver's licenses.

Running a red light is not just a rule violation; it is an act of irresponsibility that threatens the lives of our citizens.

Traffic lights are for the safety of us all.
