Interior Ministry: 'Erdoğan and Yerlikaya are not meeting'
Following the spread of reports that President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan would meet with Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, the Ministry of Interior has issued a statement. The ministry stated that no such meeting is taking place.
On the night connecting Tuesday, May 14, to Wednesday, May 15, in Ankara, President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a meeting at the Presidential Palace with National Intelligence Organization (MİT) Chief İbrahim Kalın and Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç.
The subject of the meeting, which Yerlikaya did not attend, was the recent developments within the police bureaucracy.
According to a report by İlker Turak from Sabah, it was alleged that President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan would meet with Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya today at 16:00.
The Ministry of Interior issued a statement regarding the published reports.
The ministry stated that no such meeting is on the agenda.
