Internal conflict in CHP district branch reaches the judiciary: Threatened with a gun
The internal conflict within the Republican People's Party (CHP) Yıldırım District Branch in Bursa has been taken to the judiciary following allegations of threats.
According to the information received, CHP Yıldırım District Chair İlhami Gün alleged that he was threatened with a gun by former district secretary Rüstem Toksöz while getting into his vehicle in front of his home on the morning of January 3, 2025.
In his complaint to the police, Gün stated that Toksöz told him, "You are talking and giving statements about us here and there, shut your mouth, I am warning you for the last time, I will kill you," and that he was threatened with a handgun during this encounter.
According to İlhami Gün's allegations, Rüstem Toksöz and five people accompanying him resigned from their positions at the CHP Yıldırım District Branch on January 1, 2025, due to disagreements within the party. Following this, tensions rose after both sides made separate statements.
Within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Yıldırım District Police Department, the inquiry into the incident is ongoing. It was learned that a detention order was issued for the suspect Rüstem Toksöz and that the prosecutor's office was informed to carry out the necessary procedures.
No official statement has been made yet by the CHP Yıldırım District Branch regarding the matter. The incident is expected to be followed not only for the discussions within the party but also for its legal dimension.
