Investigation file opened against Özgür Özel sent to Ankara: He already has 56 summaries of proceedings
The investigation file opened against Özgür Özel regarding the CHP convention, for which the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued a decision of lack of jurisdiction, has been sent to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Organized Crime Investigation Bureau has issued a decision of lack of jurisdiction in two separate investigations conducted against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba.
It was stated that the files were sent to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Parliamentary Crimes Investigation Bureau to serve as the basis for the preparation of a summary of proceedings (fezleke).
The following statement was included in the announcement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office:
"Since the individuals against whom allegations were made in both files are currently members of parliament, it has been stated that the authority for the investigation belongs to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in accordance with Article 161/9 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CMK) No. 5271.
For this reason, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has issued a decision of lack of jurisdiction regarding Özgür Özel and Veli Ağbaba and has decided to send the two separate investigation documents to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Parliamentary Crimes Investigation Bureau for necessary action."
The 38th Ordinary Convention, where Özgür Özel won the chairmanship, was the subject of the investigation. There are 56 summaries of proceedings previously sent to Parliament regarding Özel.
