Investigation into that police officer! They had taken Dilan Polat out for a cigarette while she was in custody
An investigation has been launched into seven police officers serving at the Istanbul Financial Crimes Investigation Branch for allegedly committing irregularities regarding the outcome of certain investigations, and a separate investigation has been opened into one officer for allowing Dilan Polat to smoke a cigarette.
Social media influencer Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat were arrested on November 4 on charges of money laundering. While it was alleged that illegal betting money was behind the incident that occupied Turkey's agenda for days, irregularities were detected in the accounts of the companies belonging to the Polat couple in the preliminary report prepared by MASAK.
According to the report by Hazar Dost from 10Haber; an administrative investigation has been launched into a police officer serving at the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau, who was also working on the Dilan Polat file.
Sources stating that only one of the police officers under investigation was assigned to the Dilan Polat file said that it was determined that the police officer in question had taken Dilan Polat outside to smoke a cigarette while she was in custody.
Both judicial and administrative investigations have been launched into the other seven police officers on the grounds that they interfered with the outcome of certain investigations.
