Investigation launched after man posed as a prosecutor during a dispute in Ataşehir

In Istanbul's Ataşehir district, it has emerged that I.E., who showed a card claiming to be a 'Judge-Prosecutor' during a parking dispute between two drivers, had presented a fake card.

An investigation has been launched against two suspects regarding the incident for the crimes of 'Threat', 'Unlawful assumption of a public office', and 'Violation of the privacy of private life'.

Minister Gürlek stated in his remarks regarding the incident that those who attempt to disrupt social peace by using the name of the justice organization will never be tolerated.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

Regarding the matter, an investigation has been launched by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the suspects I.E. and O.O.G. for the crimes of 'Threat', 'Unlawful assumption of a public office', and 'Violation of the privacy of private life'.

The events were recorded by O.O.G. on a mobile phone. The footage includes moments where I.E. shows the fake card stating he is a 'Judge-Prosecutor' and says, 'I know what I will do to you'.

MINISTER GÜRLEK: ALL JUDICIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES WILL BE CARRIED OUT WITH DETERMINATION

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek stated in a post on his social media account that a judicial investigation has been launched against the person who threatened a citizen in Istanbul's Ataşehir by using the title of "judge/prosecutor" despite not being a member of the judiciary.

Minister Gürlek noted the following:

"The profession of judge and prosecutor is the guarantee of the rule of law and one of the strongest assurances of our nation's sense of justice. No one can exploit this title to gain influence for themselves. Those who attempt to disrupt social peace by using the name of the justice organization will never be tolerated, and all necessary judicial and administrative procedures will be carried out with determination against any attempt targeting the prestige of our judicial organization. We will continue with determination to protect the rule of law, the honor of our judicial members, and the rights of our citizens."
