Investigation launched into alleged theft of voter data at CHP Headquarters

In a statement issued by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated: "Following a criminal complaint filed by the attorney for the complainant, the Republican People's Party (CHP) Headquarters, on July 24, 2026, an investigation was initiated by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office under investigation number 2026/170438.

Under the coordination of our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and as part of the efforts carried out by the teams of the Ankara Provincial Security Directorate's Cybercrime Combat Branch, search and seizure operations were conducted on July 24, 2026, at the addresses and annexes belonging to suspects Çetin Fındık and İsmail Yekta Deger, who are alleged to have unlawfully obtained voter data from the CHP Headquarters, as well as on the persons and belongings of other individuals present at the addresses. In this context, 6 HDDs, 1 SSD, 14 CDs/DVDs, 6 USBs, 2 mobile phones, 2 SIM cards, 2 tablets, 1 laptop, and 1 desktop computer case were seized at the home of suspect İsmail Yekta Deger; while 2 mobile phones and 1 tablet were seized at the home of suspect Çetin Fındık.

The seized digital materials and the computer belonging to the complainant institution mentioned in the complaint are currently being examined by the teams of the Cybercrime Combat Branch, and upon completion of these examinations, the results will be submitted to our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in the form of a report.

The investigation process is being carried out meticulously by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office."
