Investigation launched into Ertuğrul Özkök for 'insulting the President'

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued a statement saying, "An ex officio investigation has been launched by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into Ertuğrul Özkök for the crime of insulting the President due to his remarks during a program he attended." 

Özkök had used the following expressions during a program he attended on Bahar Feyzan's YouTube channel: 

"These periods will pass. As a student, I witnessed with my own eyes how the Franco regime collapsed in Spain.

The 30-year Franco dictatorship vanished in one night. The regime in Spain changed the night he died.

No one should think that such regimes will continue; they do not. The current regime in Turkey is designed around the personality of Tayyip Erdoğan and is a regime that is valid only with his personality.

There is no other person in Turkey who could carry this regime in this way. And there cannot be for a long time.

Ultimately, our President is also 72 years old. Okay, 72 years old can go on for a while longer, but eventually, the years come to an end one day. I am experiencing this. Therefore, everyone needs to put their hat in front of them and think."
