The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation has been initiated against IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez on charges of "Publicly Spreading Misleading Information" regarding his claims of a "riot at Sincan Prison."
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated the following in its announcement:
"An ex officio investigation has been launched by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against 28th Term Balıkesir MP Turhan Çömez for the crime of Publicly Spreading Misleading Information, as regulated under Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK), due to his statements claiming that a riot had broken out at Sincan No. 1 Prison."
