Iran: Attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria have nothing to do with Iran
Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi stated that the attacks carried out by Iran-backed militia groups on US bases in Syria and Iraq are "natural reactions to the US's clear support for Israel's attacks on Palestinians and have nothing to do with Iran."
Interior Minister Vahidi, in a statement to the press in the capital Tehran, addressed the accusations leveled by the Washington administration against Iran regarding the attacks on US bases in Syria and Iraq.
Stating that Israel continues its attacks on Gaza with the support of the US, Vahidi said, "The US is managing this war. It is extremely natural for Muslims to be disturbed by the atrocities suffered by the people of Gaza. The US must know that its actions will not go unanswered. Therefore, as the primary culprit, they can be targeted anywhere, and this has nothing to do with Iran."
Vahidi added, "(The US) had previously been clearly warned to stop these brutal crimes and to stop supporting them."
WHAT HAPPENED?
Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a speech on October 17 that if Israel's attacks continued, "resistance forces" in the region would take action.
In recent days, attacks have been carried out with armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and surface-to-surface weapons on bases where the US military is stationed in Syria, including the Tanf region, the Malikiyah district near the Iraqi border, the Shaddadi district of Al-Hasakah province, and Deir ez-Zor province. Iran-backed militia groups in Syria and Iraq have claimed responsibility for the attacks.
The US administration, which blames Iran for the attacks, announced on October 27 that it had conducted airstrikes on two facilities in eastern Syria used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and its affiliated groups.
