Iraq closes all its borders

The Iraqi administration has announced that the country's borders have been completely closed and that security measures have been raised to the highest level. 

Deputy Commander of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command, Lieutenant General Qais al-Muhammadawi, stated in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that security forces are awaiting orders from Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani following the decision to close the borders.

Meanwhile, Commander of the Iraqi Border Forces, General Mohammed Abdulwahab al-Saadi, stated that they have increased security measures, particularly along the Iraq-Syria border, and are continuing reinforcement efforts along the border line.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Tense hours continue in the Middle East. Clashes between Assad forces and opposition groups in Syria are ongoing. According to the latest information, control of airports in the region has passed to the YPG, while the Syrian Army announced that it has withdrawn from Aleppo.
