Is Cem Garipoğlu really dead? Why is the detail found even in Özal's grave missing from Garipoğlu's?

The grave of Cem Garipoğlu, who brutally murdered high school student Münevver Karabulut in Bahçeşehir in 2009, was opened recently. While police teams took extensive security measures around the cemetery, the assigned public prosecutor, police and crime scene investigation teams, Forensic Medicine Institute officials, and Rezan Epözdemir, the lawyer for the Münevver Karabulut family, were present at the cemetery. No one from the Garipoğlu family was present during the opening of the grave.

Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir drew attention to a specific issue while describing how the grave was opened. Former President Turgut Özal's grave had also been opened due to his family's suspicions. Emphasizing that there were shroud and fabric fragments there, Epözdemir explained that he found it strange that no fabric or shroud fragments were found in Garipoğlu's grave.

Speaking on the Çalar Saat program on NOW, Epözdemir made the following statements:

"Crime scene investigation teams were there. They recorded all the work done with cameras and took photographs. Especially for identification purposes, which is very difficult because the integrity of the corpse has been compromised.

"A FAMILY MEMBER SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE"

Legally, it is not practically possible, but the family members of the Garipoğlu family should still have been present. Because the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had specifically requested this in its instruction written to the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, in its interim decision number 3. However, only their lawyer attended to represent the family.

KARABULUT FAMILY COULD NOT ATTEND DUE TO THEIR PAIN

Our clients did not want to come, justifiably, due to the trauma, pain, and deep grief they have experienced. However, the other side was represented by a lawyer. It is very neglected, for one thing. When I went to the grave, the name and surname are not even clear; it is neglected, almost abandoned to its fate, a grave in a very corner. Even the dates of birth and death are not clear. It should be October 29, 1991, and 10.10.2014, but even that is not readable.

EMPHASIS ON THE SAW POSTS

The tombstone is also very neglected. On one hand, you attribute value and sanctity to this murder, you pose for photos on a bloody sofa, you make posts with saws, you make posts with faucets, you hold celebrations on March 3, the day Münevver was murdered; on the other hand, the grave of your son, who is the perpetrator of this murder to which you attribute such sanctity and value, and who committed the murder like a monster and by inflicting torture, is in this state. The tombstone is in the middle, the cemetery is extremely neglected.

"NO SHROUD, NO FABRIC FRAGMENT"

We started digging the grave at 11:08. Cem Garipoğlu's corpse was reached at approximately 11:32. The first level was completely empty. We moved to the second level. On the second level, frankly, the integrity of the corpse was compromised. The forensic experts were surprised. Because there is no rain or water at all. It has not received water or rain for 10 years. There is no shroud, no fabric fragment... There was a skull in a corner, there were bones.

The large bones were in the corners and the small bones likewise. There was also a 30x30 size bag. We couldn't make sense of that either. It was recorded in the minutes that there was no shroud and no fabric fragment. This is in the discovery report and the exhumation report. It was also noted that there was a 30x30 bag.

"IT WAS IN ÖZAL'S GRAVE"

Frankly, I found the absence of the shroud very strange. When the late Turgut Özal's grave was opened, his family had suspicions. There was a shroud in the late president's grave. This is a place that does not receive much water.

There is no rain or water at all. Therefore, even if the shroud had disappeared and been lost under the soil for a moment, there should have been fragments of it, there would have been. But there is not even a trace of a shroud there. Plus, the body integrity is compromised, yes, but the skull is in one place, the bones are in another, and there is a bag scattered on the soil."
