Is former Bakırköy Mayor and CHP member Bülent Kerimoğlu behind the newly established SHP?

The Social Democratic Populist Party (SHP), which withdrew from the political scene in 2010, has been re-established after 14 years.

The SHP has been included in the list of 'active political parties' by the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation.

The address of the party, listed with the abbreviation "SHP", was shown as Kızılay Karanfil Street.

The founders of the Social Democratic Populist Party consist of the following names:

BÜLENT KERİMOĞLU SPOKE TO 12PUNTO

Claims have emerged that former Bakırköy Mayor and CHP member Bülent Kerimoğlu is behind the newly established SHP. Kerimoğlu spoke to 12Punto regarding the allegations.

Former Bakırköy Mayor Bülent Kerimoğlu said, “I am a member of the CHP and I am working for the success of my party. Of course, I am pleased with the rise of the left against reactionism and racism in the world and in Turkey today. These are efforts to push us out of the party. But, as I told Şaban Sevinç, we will continue to engage in politics within the CHP. I am working for the success of my party and I will continue to work.”

Journalist Şaban Sevinç had posted a message on his social media account stating, “Bülent Kerimoğlu confirmed that he is in the background of the establishment of the SHP.”

Sevinç wrote the following:

“However, Kerimoğlu argued that Kılıçdaroğlu had no knowledge of them having the SHP established. Kerimoğlu said, ‘The SHP is a party that has provided significant services to Turkey. It would not be right for it to disappear. But we will continue to engage in politics within the CHP.’”
