Aras Yılmaz (46), who was in the open area of a shopping mall in Sarıyer, lost his life as a result of an armed attack while inside his car.
Following the murder, it was suggested that the incident could be linked to organized crime and associated with the Barış Boyun gang.
A CHAIN OF MURDERS: TURKEY, GEORGIA, AND GREECE
The Aras Yılmaz murder is being evaluated as a continuation of a chain of murders linked to incidents in which 4 people were killed in Tbilisi and 2 in Greece.
Security units are focusing on the possibility that these attacks may be part of the ongoing feud between the Barış Boyun gang and the Sarallar group.
BARIŞ BOYUN GANG IN THE CROSSHAIRS
Barış Boyun and his gang, who engage in illegal activities in Italy and Turkey, have been under close surveillance by international security forces for a long time. Investigations conducted in Italy had revealed that the Barış Boyun gang was planning bomb attacks against the Sarallar group in Turkey. For this reason, the gang has become an operational target for security forces in both Turkey and Italy.
FEUD AND MAFIA CONFLICT
It is stated that the long-standing hostility between the Barış Boyun gang and the Sarallar group has led to this and similar attacks. The investigation launched following the murder aims to uncover whether the attack is related to this conflict.
While a large-scale investigation into the incident continues, security forces are maintaining their efforts to shed light on the organized crime connections.
