İsa Aras Mersinli’s teacher speaks out: 'He wasn't a very natural child. The former principal claimed his IQ was high'
Regarding İsa Aras Mersinli, the perpetrator of the school attack in Kahramanmaraş that left 9 people dead, his teacher described him as a student who was "withdrawn, walked alone, did not participate in class, and did not communicate with anyone."
The investigation into the armed attack at Ayser Çalık Secondary School in the Onikişubat district of Kahramanmaraş, which resulted in the deaths of 9 people, continues.
During a search of the home of İsa Aras Mersinli, who carried out the attack, his computer, mobile phone, and other digital materials were seized.
Initial examination of the seized digital content revealed a document dated April 11. It was determined that the document contained statements indicating that the attacker was planning to carry out a major act in the near future.
On the other hand, it was determined that Mersinli used an image of Elliot Rodger, who killed six students in the US, as his WhatsApp profile photo.

"HE WAS WITHDRAWN AND LONELY"
Following the attack, new information regarding the school life of İsa Aras Mersinli, who is identified as the perpetrator, has begun to emerge.
According to a report on Halk TV, a teacher who did not wish to be identified shared assessments regarding the student's attitude in class and his social relationships.
According to the teacher, Mersinli did not have problems with school attendance but did not participate in lessons.
He described his student with the following words:
“He was a child who always came to class, but he was very different during lessons. While the other children were listening to the lesson, he wouldn't. He would put his head on his desk. Sometimes he would have a notebook in front of him, and he would write, draw, or scribble for hours. He was withdrawn and walked alone.
During breaks, he would hang out by himself and walk around. He wouldn't engage with anyone. I never saw him with other children in the park or the garden.
He wasn't a very natural child. I don't know how to explain it, but he had a different demeanor. He was a withdrawn child.
We heard that he might have gone to a rehabilitation center, but this is not clear. I heard it from the guidance counselor, but even they couldn't make a sound assessment.
The former principal used to say he was very successful. He had claimed that his IQ was high.
When we told him to participate in the lesson, he wouldn't listen much. That's why the teachers would just leave him to his own devices.
I never saw him get into a fight. I didn't hear of any disciplinary issues either. He didn't have any anger toward his teachers or his friends.
It was said that he was prone to violent, multiplayer games at home. But these are allegations; I cannot say for sure.
Once, he had thrown his jacket over his shoulder and was walking with his hands at his sides. It was as if he wanted to present himself that way, but I'm not sure.”
