ISIG report: At least 177 workers lost their lives in January

The Health and Safety Labor Watch (ISIG) has released its January report on workplace homicides. According to the report, at least 177 workers lost their lives in the first month of 2025. It was recorded that 24 percent of these deaths occurred in the construction and road sectors, 16 percent in transportation, 13 percent in agriculture and forestry, 10 percent in hospitality, and 7 percent in trade and office work. 

According to the data in the report, 29 percent of workplace homicides were caused by traffic accidents. 14 percent were recorded as crushing incidents, and 13 percent as falls from height. 

Of the workers who lost their lives, 162 were men, 15 were women, and 5 were children. 13 of the victims were refugee or migrant workers.

9 WORKERS AGED 65 AND OVER DIED

When workplace homicides are examined by age group, 5 child and young workers aged 5-17, 34 workers aged 18-29, 67 workers aged 30-49, 53 workers aged 50-64, 9 workers aged 65 and over, and 9 workers of unknown age lost their lives.
