ISIS Operation in Istanbul: 12 suspects apprehended

Within the scope of efforts carried out against the terrorist organization ISIS in Istanbul, a new operation was conducted targeting suspects determined to be operating on behalf of ISIS.

As part of an investigation carried out against the organization by teams from the Intelligence Branch and the Counter-Terrorism Branch of the Istanbul Police Department, an operation was launched the day before yesterday to apprehend the suspects whose identities and locations had been determined.

It was reported that 12 suspects, who were considered to potentially be in preparation for an attack, were taken into custody during chain operations conducted at multiple addresses alongside special operations teams.

During searches conducted at the raided addresses, one firearm, 13 cartridges belonging to this weapon, and a large amount of digital material were seized. The apprehended suspects were brought to the Counter-Terrorism Branch for questioning. The suspects' connections within the organization and in Turkey are being investigated.
