Israel claimed she was 'not directly targeted': Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi's autopsy report revealed

The autopsy report from the Forensic Medicine Institute under the Palestinian Ministry of Justice notes that the Nablus Public Prosecutor's Office decided to transfer the body of Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi to the Forensic Medicine Institute at An-Najah National University in the city to perform an autopsy and determine the cause of death.

AYŞENUR EZGİ EYGİ'S CAUSE OF DEATH DETERMINED

It was reported that the cause of death for Eygi, who was shot by Israeli soldiers while participating in a peaceful demonstration at Jabal Abu Sabih in the town of Beita, Nablus, in the occupied West Bank, was "brain fragmentation, hemorrhage, and edema caused by a gunshot wound."

The report stated, "The path of the bullet within the cranial cavity was in a nearly straight line from left to right."

It was noted that Eygi was brought to Rafidia Governmental Hospital on September 6 at 14:06 and showed no signs of life.

The report, which stated that the bullet damaged Eygi's brain tissue, included the following: "Her heart had stopped, her pupils were dilated, and she was unresponsive. The examination determined that the bullet entered behind Eygi's left earlobe and did not exit, and that fragments of Eygi's brain were ejected from the entry point."

The report emphasized that the bullet struck Eygi's brain and noted that bullet fragments were found within the brain.

The report recorded that the bullet fragmented after entering her skull and spread through the brain tissue, and it was stated that no other wounds were found on her body, excluding her head.

CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION PERFORMED 6 TIMES

It was reported that cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed on Eygi 6 times without response, and her death was announced on September 6, 2024, at 14:35.

ISRAELI ARMY HAD CLAIMED EYGİ WAS "NOT DIRECTLY TARGETED"

Following an investigation conducted by the Israeli army, it had been claimed that Eygi was not directly targeted.

In its statement regarding the killing of Eygi, the Israeli army alleged that she may have been "killed unintentionally" as a result of fire opened by Israeli soldiers, and that the Israeli soldier who shot Eygi "intended to target another protester at the time."

It was reported that the results of the investigation conducted by the Israeli Military Police Criminal Investigation Division would be submitted to the Military Prosecution.

It was also noted that Israel had requested an autopsy on Eygi's body.

Turkish-American citizen 26-year-old Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi lost her life after being shot in the head by an Israeli sniper during an anti-occupation demonstration held in the town of Beita, Nablus, in the occupied West Bank on September 6.

BIDEN'S STATEMENTS REGARDING EYGİ'S DEATH

When asked about Eygi, who was killed by Israeli soldiers, as he was leaving the White House for New York on September 11, US President Joe Biden replied, "It looks like it was an accident. (The bullet) ricocheted off the ground and accidentally hit her."

A statement from the White House also alleged that Eygi's death was the result of a "tragic error."
